Teeth Whitening for a Brilliant Smile

It is important to feel confident in your smile, because being confident in your smile means being confident in yourself. Despite this, many people walk around every day, resigned to the fact that their smile is what it is and there is really nothing they can do to change it. But what if that was not the case? What if improving the aesthetic appearance and/or functionality of your smile was easier than you thought?

Teeth whitening is one of the quickest and most effective way to improve the cosmetic appearance of your smile by getting rid of discolored or stained teeth to create a bright, white, healthy looking smile. At Dental Serenity™, we offer a comprehensive range of dental procedures, from common treatments like fillings or root canal therapy, restorative procedures like dental implants to replace a missing tooth or teeth, emergency care, and cosmetic treatments like veneers or teeth whitening. To ensure you are comfortable and have as enjoyable an experience as possible, we also offer sedation dentistry so you can remain calm and receive the care you need.

Steps Involved in the Professional Teeth Whitening Process

Prior to performing a professional teeth whitening procedure, an initial evaluation will be necessary to determine if our teeth whitening treatment is right for you. This evaluation will also allow us to determine the underlying reason why your teeth have become stained or discolored and whether additional treatment is necessary. If it is determined that you are a viable candidate for teeth whitening, we will place a dental tray in your mouth that will apply the whitening product to your teeth. Unlike many over-the-counter teeth whitening products, which can take weeks to provide results and contain chemicals that may cause discomfort or tooth sensitivity, our treatment provides noticeable results in just one hour and is free of all those chemicals.

What is the Cost of Teeth Whitening?

The cost of teeth whitening will depend on a variety of factors, including the severity of your case, whether dental sedation is used, any additional procedures performed as part of your treatment plan, and whether you are covered by dental insurance. If you do have dental insurance, your final bill will be determined by your dental insurance coverage, co-pay requirements, and annual deductibles, although teeth whitening may not be covered under your plan because it is a cosmetic procedure, so be sure to contact our office and/or your provider to determine whether the procedure is covered.

If teeth whitening is covered under your plan, our clinic is in network with most PPOs and accepts all insurance plans. We also offer interest free financing through Lending Club, and CareCredit, or you may consider joining our Dental Serenity Membership Club to save money on treatment and simplify your payments for preventative care. Aftercare Following Teeth Whitening

While all teeth discoloration may occur for a variety of reasons, including tobacco use, physical trauma, and due to certain medications, the most common reason people require teeth whitening treatment is because they have poor oral hygiene habits. The best thing you can do to continue enjoying a bright, white, healthy smile and avoid needing similar teeth whitening treatments in the future is to:

  • Practice good daily oral hygiene habits: Enjoying a bright, white, healthy smile and good oral health requires a personal commitment on your part to consistently brush your teeth twice daily and flossing regularly. If you struggle with flossing on a regular basis, you may want to consider floss picks or interdental brushes.
  • Eat healthy: To prevent staining, limit or avoid staining foods or beverages, like coffee, tea, red wine, tomato-based sauces, curry, and avoid unhealthy foods and beverages that are high in starch and sugar. It is also important to swish your mouth with water after eating a meal or drinking a sugary beverage to remove food remnants that can cause decay if not removed. Using a straw while drinking sugary beverages also reduces the amount of sugar that is exposed to your teeth.
  • Use Stain Removal Toothpastes: Although they will not reach a stain that is deeper than the surface of the tooth or change the natural color of your tooth, whitening toothpastes that have the ADA Seal of Acceptance can whiten teeth over time if used consistently.
  • Dental cleanings/checkups: To prevent teeth staining, cavities, gum disease, and other issues, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment for a dental cleaning and checkup at least every six months. In addition to performing a professional cleaning, these checkups also provide an opportunity to identify and begin treating issues before they become worse.
